KATHMANDU: Financial assistance for flood-affected people in Rasuwa is increasing, with more contributions being made to government relief funds.

Addressing the House of Representatives today, Prime Minister Balendra Shah said the government is collecting financial assistance for flood victims through the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund and the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund, with contributions continuing to rise.

According to Shah, a total of Rs 7,008,857,217 had been deposited in the relief fund as of Wednesday. Of this, Rs 1 billion was released yesterday to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).

From that amount, Rs 67.5 million has already been disbursed to 15 local governments in the flood-affected districts of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Tanahun.

The fund currently has a balance of Rs 6,008,857,217, along with an additional US$614,417.02 in contributions.
