KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has assured that the damaged Krishna Bhir section of the Prithvi Highway will be fully repaired and reopened for traffic within the month of Bhadra.

Addressing a meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Prime Minister Shah confirmed that efforts are underway to restore operations along the crucial highway section before the end of the current month. The transport link suffered major damage after a massive landslide caused the entire road structure to collapse into the Trishuli River.

The complete collapse of the road at Krishna Bhir has severed smooth vehicular connectivity with the capital city, Kathmandu. The ongoing disruption along this vital highway corridor has disconnected a key road link entering and leaving Kathmandu.

During his address to parliament, Prime Minister Shah highlighted the government’s commitment to completing the road restoration within Bhadra. However, the prime minister did not specify the technical or operational modality under which the damaged highway stretch will be repaired and brought back into service following its collapse into the Trishuli River.
